THE
JUNK MAIL PROJECT
THE
SELDOMS | MONUMENT
RUTH
PAGE CENTER FOR THE ARTS
Barbara
Hashimoto has been invited to conduct a one-evening post show
presentation and to create a shredded junk mail installation in
the lobby of The Ruth Page Center for the Arts during the entire
run of The Seldoms dance company's Monument.
Monument is an
evening length dance theater work that follows the veracious,
frenzied course of individual acts of consumption along the one-way
ride to the trash-heap. This final destination, the landfill –
that accidental social sculpture – looms large in Monument,
a physical culmination of desire and expenditure.
