Barbara Hashimoto has been selected as one of twelve Featured Artists by The City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs for their annual month-long celebration, Chicago Artists Month. During October more than 200 arts events take place throughout the city.
This year's theme, Chicago Artists Month 2.0, refers to the concepts of interactivity and connectivity associated with Web 2.0, and highlights the ways in which artists interact with their audiences, interface with other artists, and use technology in order to create and distribute their work - locally, globally and virtually.
Barbara's ongoing environmental art project, THE JUNK MAIL EXPERIMENT, will be featured in two concurrent exhibitions -- in Paris at the Musée du Montparnasse, and in Chicago at Dubhe Carreño Gallery. The exhibitions open in September, and the artist will attend both receptions -- in Chicago on September 11 and in Paris on September 26. The Chicago venue will be hosting a live- and prerecorded- feed from all the exhibition events in Paris as well as an artists' talk at Dubhe Carreño Gallery on October 24 at 2PM.
